just to emphasize, this blog is NOT a review blog, it's merely my thoughts on what i've been listening to

The Strange Death of Liberal England - Drown Your Heart Again

songs about the sea?

grabbed this on a whim. yes, it's an advance copy, but i'll definitely buy it when it comes out on the 13th. it's just that good.

like i said though, on a whim. no idea who these guys were, but the name made me raise an eyebrow, so i grabbed it.

and i was very much pleasantly surprised. not much like anything else i listen to, their music only really brings forth slight similarities to The Arcade Fire. the songs themselves though are unique, with maritime references here and there.

starting off with "Flickering Lights", reaching the album's highpoints with "Like A Curtain Falling" and "Come On You Young Philosphers!", and ending nicely with "Dog Barking At The Moon", i can honestly say i found some enjoyment in every track on the album. there's a melancholy, almost completely depressing, but still hopeful kind of sound to all the songs, even when the lyrics are downright somber.

hopefully, my reviews get better from now on so i can properly convey just how good music like this is.

in the meantime though, you should really buy this album when it comes out, it's awesome.
